can i just tell it what i ate

Calorie counter app:
say it, snap it or scan it.

Physiqo is a calorie counter and macro tracker for iPhone that you talk to. Type a sentence, take a photo, scan a barcode or send a screenshot, and Ari, its AI coach, finds the food, works out the calories and macros and keeps your day adding up.

Four ways to log food: text, photo, barcode or screenshot

In Physiqo you type what you ate the way you'd say it, snap a photo of the plate, scan a barcode or send a screenshot of another app's food diary. Ari works out the calories and macros. A confident match logs straight away with Undo; if she isn't sure, she asks you first.

  • Type it. Write it how you'd say it, such as 2 eggs on toast and a coffee or cheeky nandos, half chicken and spicy rice. Physiqo logs each food with its calories, protein, carbs and fat.
  • Snap it. Scan food reads a photo of your plate, each food and its weight, for you to check before it saves.
  • Scan it. The camera has a barcode mode that logs a packaged food from its barcode.
  • Send a screenshot. Ari reads a screenshot of another app's food diary and logs it after you confirm.

You don't weigh every crumb or search a database. You can also pick a saved meal, copy yesterday, or add a quick entry when you only need a number.

UK foods: chain menus, supermarket products and CoFID

The right calorie app for UK eating is one that knows UK products and high street menus. Physiqo checks each food against your own usual foods, then UK chain menus, then more than 50,000 UK supermarket products stored on the phone, then the UK food table (CoFID), then live search.

  1. Your usual foods. Anything you have taught it comes first.
  2. High street menus. UK chain menus, item by item.
  3. UK supermarket products. More than 50,000 of them are stored on your phone, so this lookup works with no signal.
  4. The UK food table. The UK's own food data, known as CoFID.
  5. Live search. For anything else.

The first good match wins, so a Tesco meal deal sandwich or a cheeky Nando's is found as the real thing rather than a generic guess.

When it is sure, and when it asks

A confident match logs straight away, with Undo and Edit on the card. If Physiqo isn't sure, Ari asks instead of guessing, for example which kind of tea you had, and shows the calories for each choice. If nothing turns up, you can scan the barcode or enter the food yourself.

Fix a food once and it sticks. When you swap or fix an entry, it becomes one of your usual foods. You can also tell Ari what a word means: say that brekkie means porridge with a bit of honey, and that is what brekkie is from then on.

Calorie and macro tracking against your targets

Physiqo keeps targets for calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre, and for water. The Food tab shows Today's nutrition, with what you have eaten against each target and what remains.

Ask how much protein have i got left today and Ari answers with the figure, for example 129.2 g of 180 g, with 50.8 g to go. She can also tell you your sugar, saturated fat and salt for a day or a week against daily limits, and which foods had the most.

Food diary, Meal Planner and shopping list

The Food tab doubles as your food diary. Your meals are split into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks, and Ari logs a food to any meal, today or on another day. You can save a recipe as a meal, or tell Ari which packs you buy so your plans, shopping list and logs use them.

A Meal Planner builds a week of meals around your targets and diet, and a shopping list follows from it. Both live in the Food tab.

Coming from another food diary app

Send Ari a screenshot of a day from your old food diary and she reads it and logs it after you confirm. Another app's history does not become your logged history: you can add an export for Ari to read as background, but it isn't turned into logged meals. More on switching to Physiqo from another app.

Apple Health and your data

Physiqo can connect to Apple Health on your iPhone. It is read only: your weight, steps, sleep and workouts come in by themselves, including what a watch or another app saves there, and you can disconnect any time. There is no Apple Watch app.

Your food and body numbers are health data, so Ari asks you to agree once, at sign-up, to share what each answer needs with the AI tool that powers her. It is only used to write her replies, and it is never used for ads, never sold and never used to train AI. The plain guide to how Physiqo uses AI and your data has the rest.

Limits worth knowing

  • Check the label if you need to be exact. Ari reads food names, not labels, so she can't say a food is safe for an allergy.
  • No crash diets. She won't coach disordered eating or very low calories, and she gives no medical advice.
  • Some of it needs a connection. Logging, plans and your own numbers work on your phone alone. Live search and anything Ari has to think through need the internet.
  • iPhone only, for adults 18 and over. There is no Android version.

Training lives in the same chat: see the workout tracker guide, or go back to Physiqo, the AI fitness coach app.

Plans and availability

Physiqo is £14.99 a month, £29.97 for 3 months or £95.88 for 12 months, after a free trial whose length the App Store sets. There is no free plan. Pricing, the free trial and how to cancel

quick answers

Fair
questions.

Is Physiqo a calorie counter

Yes. Physiqo counts calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre against your daily targets, plus water. Unlike a plain calorie counter, the same chat also logs your workouts, plans your training and keeps your weigh-ins.

Can I log food by text or photo

Yes. In Physiqo you type what you ate the way you'd say it, snap a photo of the plate, scan a barcode or send a screenshot of another app's food diary. Ari works out the calories and macros. A confident match logs straight away with Undo; if she isn't sure, she asks you first.

Can Physiqo scan a barcode

Yes. The camera in Physiqo has a barcode mode that logs a packaged food from its barcode. If nothing is found for a food, you can scan the barcode or enter it yourself.

Does Physiqo have UK foods

Yes. Physiqo checks your own usual foods first, then UK high street chain menus, then a pack of more than 50,000 UK supermarket products stored on your phone, then the UK food table (CoFID), then live search.

Does Physiqo work offline

Partly. The UK supermarket products are stored on your phone, so that lookup works with no signal, and logging, plans and your own numbers work on your phone alone. Live search and anything Ari has to think through need a connection.

Does Physiqo connect to Apple Health

Yes, read only. On your iPhone, Physiqo can read your weight, steps, sleep and workouts from Apple Health, including what a watch or another app saves there. There is no Apple Watch app.
